Paralegal

Assist Attorney by investigating and gathering facts for law firm with predominantly Brazilian clients by conducting background checks through Brazilian channels of existing and potential clients.  Communicate and maintain frequent interaction with Portuguese speaking clients via emails and phone calls; scheduling meetings and gathering information and documentation for specific cases.  Analyze Brazilian documents for authentication, completeness, and applicability to the specific case to which they relate.  Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles and organize and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems.  Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation, writing summary reports to help attorney to prepare for submissions and for oral argument when necessary.  Draft correspondence and legal documents, such as briefs, support letters, contracts, shareholder agreements, companies’ annual financial reports analysis, etcetera.  Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence.  Handle and file exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents using technology and computer software for managing and organizing documents and data collected during a case..

 

Requires:   Bachelor’s degree in law (foreign degree accepted) + 1 year of experience as a paralegal or lawyer handling Brazilian clients and documents.
